Determination of pH value for Coal Based Activated Carbon
Boil activated carbon in boiling water (deionized water or distilled water) and measure the pH value of the cooled filtrate. The purpose of detecting the pH value of activated carbon is to understand its acidity and alkalinity, because in practical applications, when a fluid containing adsorbate passes through the activated carbon layer, chemical reactions may occur between the carbon layer and the fluid, and pH value may be an effective parameter for this reaction.
